What does federal Records Management, FOIA, and Privacy have in common?
All three are pillars of a strong Information Governance (IG) framework. They cannot and should not exist without each other.
However in many agencies
- FOIA is housed under General Counsel or Public Affairs
- Records Management is under Administrative or IT Services
- Privacy is under Chief Information Officer (CIO), Legal or Compliance.
This sioled approach is causing inefficiencies within the government.
To effectively govern information, all 3 programs must work together, collaborate, and be in alignment.
